Tasks Filters Task Interaction Task Status

Overview

Once a manager has allocated order tasks from a workflow to specific individuals, these tasks can be managed from the Tasks Dashboard. Each employee will be able to view tasks assigned to them or their work station and update those tasks as work is completed.

Step-by-Step

  1. Navigate to the Tasks screen by clicking “Tasks” at the top of the screen.
  2. On the left of the Tasks screen, under “View Templates”, select your name or your work station. This will open up your Tasks view.
  3. You should see a column of task cards under the header “Inactive”. This represents tasks that are assigned to you and are ready for you to begin.
  4. When you click on the first task, the order information will open on the right side. Use this information to determine the particular order the Task is associated with.

  5. When you are ready to begin this Task, find the “Status” box in the right panel and click on where it reads “Inactive”. This will open a dropdown with the choices “Check In”, “Error”, or “Complete”. Click on “Check In.”
  6. This moves the task into “Active” status, allowing your manager to know you have begun the Task. You will see a new column created next to “Inactive”, this one labeled as “Active”.
  7. If/when you need to stop the Task (example: Go to the bathroom, speak to a Manager, make a phone call…), open up your Task panel, click on the “Active” symbol in the “Status” box in the right panel as before, but this time choose “Check out” to confirm you are pausing the Task. If there is a technical error (example: machine down/tool broke) change the status to “Error”, and leave it in this status until the error is fixed. When you are ready to begin the Task again, change the status back to “Check In”. When you are done the Task, change the status to “Complete” and confirm with “Change”. The Task will disappear from your “Active” list and you can now begin on the next Task in the ‘Inactive” list

FAQs

  • Why am I doing this? By “Checking in” and “Checking out” time, you are helping yourself and your Managers understand the true amount of time that goes into an order. This can be used to improve processes, implement corrective actions to inefficiencies on the floor, and reward good work by Technicians. Think of it as an electronic time that accurately reflects your work on particular orders.
  • Do I need to change status to “Inactive” every time I step away or stop working? You should only “Check out” if you plan to be pause your Task for more than 5 minutes. Anything less than that is not worth the effort.
