How to Setup a Lightning Workstation

How to get started with the Lightning App – the setup process can only be completed by users with admin credentials, please contact an administrator for setup if the credential requirements are not met.


FactoryFour’s Lightning application is an operator-optimized solution that helps you minimize non-value-adding time on the production floor. This article will review how to get started with your Lightning App and get your workstation setup. The setup process can only be completed by users with admin credentials, please contact your administrator for set up if the credential requirements are not met.

The Lightning app is optimized for use on Android tablets but is compatible with some mobile devices that have a large screen size.

Setting up your Workstation

Before you can log in to the Lightning App on your tablet, you will need to get your workstation set up through the FactoryFour Admin app.

  1. Open the FactoryFour Admin App on your web browser
  2. Log in with your FactoryFour credentials. You must have admin credentials to be able to log in to the FactoryFour Admin App.
  3. Navigate to the “Workstations” tab
  4. Select “Create Lightning Workstation”
  5. Name your Workstation (this is a required field)
  6. Select your default Task Interface (this interface will be used to select which frame to open when a task is selected on the Lightning App)
  7. Find the bluetooth address for the tablet that you downloaded the Lightning App onto. The bluetooth address can be found in your settings either by:
    1. Searching for “bluetooth address” within your tablet settings
    2. Navigating to the “About tablet” section of your settings page and then selecting the “Status” option
  8. Enter your tablet’s bluetooth address into the Device Bluetooth Address field on the Admin app with the colons :
  9. Enter your Maximum Session Length which will timeout users after the set period of time
  10. Select to either enable or disable Batch Actions
  11. Once all the required fields have been entered for creating a workstation, select “Next”
  12. Scan the QR code that appears on the Admin app with your tablet’s camera
  13. Once the tablet has scanned the QR code on the Admin App, a security code should appear on your tablet
  14. Enter the security code displayed on the tablet into the “Device Activation” modal on the Admin App
  15. Enter your FactoryFour credentials in the Admin App to complete your workstation set up
  16. Now you will have access to your Workstation Dashboard on the FactoryFour Lightning App on your Android tablet

Connecting a Supported Zebra Scanner

  1. Make sure that the bluetooth setting on your tablet is “ON”
  2. Scan the Connect a Scanner barcode to associate a scanner with your workstation
    • You may be required to verify your bluetooth connection between your scanner and your workstation
  3. Once your scanner is connected to your tablet, the scanner status will update from Not Connected to Connected
