How to Perform Batch Tasks Actions
FactoryFour’s operator-optimized Lightning App is built using the same platform that our FactoryFour web application uses.
FactoryFour’s Lightning application enables users to interact with individual tasks while also updating, completing, and acting on a defined set of tasks, known as a batch. Not all organizations need to use batching as a way to update more than one task at once, but it can be a quick way to complete processes for a set of related tasks.
How to Enable/Disable Batching for your Organization
Batching is a setting that can be enabled or disabled by Admin users that have access to workstations in the Admin application.
- Log in to the Admin application
- Navigate to the “Workstations” section of the Admin tool
- Select the specific workstation for which you want to enable/disable batching. This will open a modal to edit your workstation settings.
- If you want to create a new workstation, follow How to Set up your Lightning App before moving forward.
- Confirm or set the Workstation Name, Device Bluetooth Address, and Maximum Session Length (min). Select “Next” once complete.
- Confirm or set the Users and User Groups that have access to this workstation. Select “Next” once complete.
- Confirm the correct Task Interface and Primary Header are selected.
- In the Batch Actions section, select “Enabled” to configure this workstation to allow for updating a set of tasks and turn on batching.
- Select “Disabled” to turn off batching capabilities.
- Select “Done” to complete workstation editing or workstation creation.
How to Use Batching on Lightning
- Log in to the Lightning Application on your Android tablet.
- If you have questions about logging in, see How to Log into a Lightning Workstation
- On the Workstation dashboard, you can either scan the QR code in the Batch Tasks component with a connected scanner or select the “Start” button on your tablet.
- Scan a workflow or an order QR, or manually select tasks from the Task Backlog in order to add tasks to the batch.
- Once you have added all tasks required to the batch, you can scan an action QR such as check-in, complete, or error in order to apply that action on all tasks within the batch.
- Users can also select an action button on the tablet in order to apply that action to all tasks in the batch.
- Multiple actions can be completed on the same batch of tasks. In order to start a new batch, scan the “Remove All” QR or manually select the “Remove All” button on top of the Tasks in the Batch.
- If a criterion to apply an action to a task is not met, all tasks where criteria are met will be completed and the user will be notified of any errors in specific tasks where that action could not be completed.
