How to Configure Task Sorting Algorithms
Sort tasks according to your business priorities on a per view basis
Allow your users to confidently choose tasks from the top of their Task Board knowing it aligns with business priorities.
Configure your task sorting algorithms from the Admin App.
At a Glance
- Admins configure task sorting algorithms in the Admin App based on nearly any task or order information
- Task sorting algorithms are selected on a per view basis allowing different functional groups to prioritize differently
- Admins set an organization default sorting algorithm to be applied to any new template
- If no configuration is set the FactoryFour default will remain FIFO (first-in, first-out)
Sorting Criteria
- Task Assignment – Manually sort assignment categories: Current Logged-in User, Others, No Assignment
- Task Status – Manually inform status sorting, FactoryFour default is Error, Active, Inactive, Standby, Complete, but there are many valid reasons to want another sorting order
- Task Tags – By Tag Group, sort ascending/descending for ranges or manually inform sort for lists
- Total Time Checked In – Total amount of time a task has been checked-in by all users
- Order Submission Date – Sort ascending for FIFO on the order level, descending not recommended
- Order Requested Date – Sort ascending for soonest, descending not recommended
- Order Due Date – Sort ascending for soonest, descending not recommended
- Order Tags – By Tag Group, sort ascending/descending for ranges or manually inform sort for lists
- Order Datapoints – Sort alphabetically or numerically by datapoint key
- FIFO – First in, first out based on when each task’s dependencies have been met
