Order Workflow Job Workflow Tasks Task Interaction

Tasks are the units of work in FactoryFour. Users track time on tasks, capture quality information on tasks and report production progress using tasks. In production, all tasks are a part of a workflow which informs the dependencies for each task.

At a Glance

  • Tasks are represented all over the application by a task card
  • The task status is indicated by the color of the task card and an icon
  • To interact with a task anywhere in the app, click on the card to open the task panel
  • Once a task is completed, downstream tasks in the workflow will be initiated

Feature Details

Task Status

At all times a task will have one of five statuses:

  1. Standby: Task not ready, all prior tasks have not been completed
  2. Inactive: Task ready for work, no current activity
  3. Active: Current activity ongoing by at least one user
  4. Complete: Task completed, next tasks are ready to be activated
  5. Error: Unexpected problem requiring additional resources

The current status for each task is indicated by the color of the task card as well as the icon in the top right corner

Task Panel

The task panel is the primary way to interact with any task. It can be accessed by clicking on a task card of interest anywhere in the application. The task panel three main parts:

  1. Task Summary and Quick-Action Panel – shows high-level task information, quality standard guidance, and provides easy access to the main task actions: check in/out, complete and report an error.
  2. Task Sub-Panel Navigation Bar – lists the tabs available to open for more task context, instructions or actions.
  3. Task Sub-Panel – when a tab is selected, the sub-panel expands to show a full-height interface to reference or complete task information, order information, quality forms, work instructions, and more.

Task Assignment

Assigning tasks to users allows them to find tasks quicker and execute production schedules. An admin would create a rule such that for any particular task(s) assign a specific user. The ability to assign a task to a user on the fly allows for more agility when prioritizing work. It ensures that if any task of high priority comes through, users can be assigned by an admin without having to change a rule configuration or create a new configuration.

  1. Admins can create a rule to automatically assign a task to a user
  2. Admins can manually assign users to tasks from within a task panel under the Task Info tab
  3. Task dashboard can now be filtered by tasks that are assigned to particular users or currently logged in users
